Cattle Drive: 25th Kaiserwinkl Almhoamfahr'n

  • Almabtrieb in Kössen
  • Almabtrieb in Tirol
  • Almabtrieb am Kaiserwinkl

20th September 2014 in the village of Kössen

This is one of the festivals in Tyrol that wonderfully illustrate farming traditions to locals and guests alike: the annual driving down of cattle from the mountain pastures into the valley. The atmosphere embracing all visitors to this event is surely unique. And this uniqueness is something everyone can be very proud. This year again, the "Alm Hoamfahr'n" in the Kaiserwinkl township of Kössen lovingly upholds this tradition.

On 20.09.2014 from 10:30 until 16:00, these old traditions are brought back to life when the alpine cattle, colourfully adorned is marched thourgh the village loudly chiming bells, accompanied by proud alpine farmers and helpers.

Already at 10:30, the Kössen local band and the "Koasawinkl Musikanten" march in to kick off the programme. In addition to the adorned catlte of individual farmers, those of the"Alm Hoamfah'n", a historic procession is performed. This is accompanied by culinary treats from peasant cooking and fine drops by local distillers.

The event is held in any weather, and admission is free!
